Learning from a Tiger Economy with James Kim
AmCham Sri Lanka is pleased to present the fourth in our exclusive Premiere Series on Thursday the 17th December 2020 at 4.00 pm [SLST/IST] featuring James Kim, Chairman and CEO AmCham Korea.
As a veteran businessman living and leading top companies in Korea for over 15 years, James will speak on “Learning from a Tiger Economy: Business the Korean way” sharing his insights and experience of how Korea emerged from being one of the poorest countries in the world to the fourth largest economy in Asia and what learning from this an Emerging economy like Sri Lanka can gain.
James Kim, is the current Chairman and CEO of AmCham South Korea. He is a veteran business leader having lived and worked in South Korea leading organizations such as Yahoo, Microsoft and General Motors for over 15 years through Korea’s boom period.
At GM Korea, Mr. Kim was responsible for the total operations with 17,000 employees (sales, manufacturing, distribution and design) in Korea. Mr. Kim also had oversight responsibilities with GM’s joint venture operations in Uzbekistan. Mr. Kim joined GM Korea from Microsoft Korea, where he had served as Country Manager and CEO. His previous roles include CEO of Yahoo! Korea and Asia Regional Vice President of Overture (a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo).
James will speak on the learnings that Sri Lankan, and other Asian businesses can adopt from the “Korean Miracle” of South Korea’s rise to one of the top economies in Asia, known collectively as the Asia Tiger Economies.
