Amcham Sri Lanka organized a special event on the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act) which is the principal legislation that deals with personal data protection in Sri Lanka. Conducted by Mr. Revan Weerasinghe; an independent legal practitioner specializing in the areas of intellectual property, information security, data protection, company law, and commercial transactions was hosted at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo. Mr. Revan Weerasinghe consults to several companies and start-ups on Intellectual Property Strategy, data protection, Information Security best practices and the benefits derived from creating an Intellectual Property Enabling Environment within an organization. He is also the Consultant Legal and Intellectual Property to SLINTEC (Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology) for over 13 years.

The objective of the programme was to educate Amcham members on PDPA which aims to safeguard the rights of individuals and ensure consumer trust in information privacy in online transactions and information networks resulting from growth and innovation in the digital economy.
