The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) hosted a Breakfast meeting with Ambassador Teresita C. Schaffer – Former US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, on the current view the Washington has on Sri Lanka, the stand on trade and investments, after the change of government.
Ambassador Schaffer currently serves as a Senior Advisor to McLarty Associates, a Washington-based international strategic firm. She served in the US Embassies of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and as Ambassador to Sri Lanka (from 1992 – 1995). The objective of this meeting was to exchange perspectives on Washington’s view of the US-SL relations and the current business and political climate in Sri Lanka.
The business community had an opportunity to express their ideas and concerns as well as receive firsthand information on the line of investment the U.S. hopes to achieve, working together with the new government, in the future.
